Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine bodywork technique based on the same logic as acupuncture works. Instead of placing a needle it involves placing physical pressure, by finger, hand, elbow, or with the aid of massage devices, on different acupuncture points.

One of the easiest ways to do acupressure on yourself is to use your thumb. Locate the point that is recommended for your condition. After you locate the point place your thumb on it and press down. Apply pressure as long as it is comfortable on the point (and your thumb), then release. Start again whenever you feel rested. If it is difficult on your thumb (or other fingers) to apply pressure to your body you may use a pointy object such as chopsticks or a pen. Or you can use a massage devise, if you have one.

Apply pressure to all points recommended for your condition at least 10 minutes a day, but preferably for 25 minutes as this is how long one treatment of acupuncture lasts.

If it is difficult to locate an acupuncture point on yourself it is still very useful to apply pressure on the whole area, where the acupuncture point is located. In this case you may use your hand and massage-pressure the area, or use a massage device, again, if you have one.
